Lash lift in Zaandam: a curl for your own lashes

A lash lift gives your own lashes a curl from the root. At Aevum Clinic in Zaandam no extra hairs are added: with a special lotion we make your lashes temporarily supple, so they can be set in a new shape. As a result they look longer and your eyes look more open.

What happens during a lash lift?

Talking it through: at the start of the appointment we discuss which curl you want. We also ask about allergies and eye complaints. Preparation: we clean your lashes and cover your lower lashes. Lifting: we place a small silicone shield on your eyelid and brush your lashes over it. A first lotion makes the lashes supple. Setting: a second lotion fixes the curl. Finishing: we carefully remove the lotion and care for your lashes.

Preparing for your lash lift

Come without mascara and eye make-up. Do you wear contact lenses? Take them out before the treatment and bring your glasses. Do not use oil or rich cream around your eyes the day before. Do not curl your lashes that day. Have you reacted to hair dye, hair perming products or cosmetics around your eyes before? Let us know in advance via WhatsApp or by phone; then we discuss together whether the treatment is advisable for you.

How long does a lash lift last?

You see the result straight after the treatment. A lash lift usually stays visible for 6 to 8 weeks. This is linked to the natural growth cycle of your lashes: new lashes grow in straight and treated lashes fall out naturally over time.

Aftercare: how long must a lash lift stay dry?

The curl sets during the first hours after the treatment. That is why the following is usually advised: keep your lashes dry at first, often for around 24 hours, and avoid steam, saunas and sweating; do not use mascara during that first period; do not rub your eyes or sleep face down in your pillow; do not use an oily make-up remover around your eyes for the first few days; gently brush your lashes upwards every day after that.

When is a lash lift not suitable?

We advise against a lash lift or postpone it if: you have an eye infection, inflamed eyelids, a stye or other eye complaints; you recently had eye surgery; then wait for your eye doctor's approval; you are allergic to the lotion or have reacted to hair dye or perming products before; you have eczema or irritated skin around your eyes; your lashes are very short or damaged; you are having chemotherapy.

Is a lash lift bad for your lashes?

A lash lift uses chemical lotions, similar to a perm for the hair on your head. With careful application and enough time between treatments, the chance of damage is smaller. Even so, there are risks: irritation, watery or red eyes if lotion gets into the eye; an allergic reaction to the lotion, with itching or swelling of the eyelids; dry, brittle or breaking lashes if treatments are done too often or for too long; a curl that turns out differently than expected.
