In a BB glow treatment, a tinted cosmetic serum is introduced very superficially into the upper layer of your skin with very fine needles. The aim is a light tint, a little as if you were wearing a thin layer of BB cream that does not rub off. The colour fades gradually, usually over a few weeks to a few months.
Start: you fill in our intake and consent form beforehand, and at the start of your appointment we discuss your skin, your health, any allergies and your expectations. Shade: together we choose a shade that suits your skin. Cleansing: your skin is cleansed and disinfected. Application: using sterile single-use needles, the tinted serum is introduced very superficially into the upper layer of the skin. Finishing: your skin is soothed and you receive aftercare advice.
BB glow may suit you if you have healthy, calm skin and would like a light tint that fades again over time. At Aevum Clinic we look together at whether it suits your skin at the start of your appointment, not online. Questions beforehand? Send us a WhatsApp message or give us a call. If in doubt, or if you have a skin condition, we will first refer you to your GP or dermatologist. Are you under 18? Then please contact us first.
Do not choose BB glow, or postpone it, if you: are pregnant or breastfeeding; have active acne, rosacea, eczema or irritated skin; have a cold sore or another infection on your face; tend to form thick scars (keloids); have used isotretinoin (an acne medication) in the past 6 to 12 months; use blood thinners; are allergic to colour pigment or another ingredient of the tinted serum; are planning a laser treatment on your face soon; are sunburnt or freshly tanned
Two to four treatments are often planned, a few weeks apart. This varies from person to person: how many make sense for you depends on your skin and the effect you are looking for, and we agree on it together at your appointment.
Expect a subtle effect: a light tint. Spots, scars and pores usually remain visible. It is not opaque coverage like foundation. The colour usually fades within a few weeks to a few months, and sometimes unevenly. Results vary from person to person.
Because pigment is introduced into the skin with needles, BB glow carries the same risks as microneedling, plus a few more: redness, swelling and tenderness in the first few days; an allergic reaction to the pigment; small bumps or inflammatory reactions in the skin (granulomas); rare, but described in the medical literature; uneven or longer-lasting discolouration; infection; on darker skin, a higher chance of pigment changes
Preferably come without make-up. Stop using retinol, acids and scrubs a few days beforehand. Have you ever reacted to make-up, skincare or pigment before? Then tell us beforehand, via WhatsApp or by phone, or at the start of your appointment.
Below are general guidelines. We discuss together after the treatment which aftercare advice suits your skin.
